When Comparison Becomes a Remedy Clue

One of the things I love about homeopathy is that seemingly ordinary experiences can become useful clues.

Comparison is one of them.

Most of us have caught ourselves doing it at some point. Looking at somebody else's life, relationship, business, family or healing journey and wondering why they seem to have something we don't.

Interestingly, different remedies can express comparison in very different ways.

Lachesis is probably one of the most well-known remedy pictures associated with comparison and jealousy themes. The person can become acutely aware of what others are receiving, experiencing or achieving. Underneath this often sits a fear of being overlooked, replaced or not valued.

Nat Mur tends to carry comparison much more quietly. Rather than expressing jealousy outwardly, the individual often turns those feelings inward. There can be a sense that everyone else appears to have life worked out while they privately carry self-doubt, disappointment or old hurts.

Silica often compares through a lack of confidence. These individuals frequently underestimate themselves while admiring everyone else's strengths. They can be remarkably capable yet remain convinced others are somehow doing a better job.

Pulsatilla can compare through connection and belonging. They may wonder why others seem more loved, included or supported and can become sensitive to feeling left out.

Lycopodium often compares around performance, success and competence. On the outside they may appear confident, yet underneath there can be worries about measuring up or being found wanting.

What I find fascinating is that comparison itself is rarely the issue. Instead, it often points us towards the remedy picture underneath. The emotion is simply the doorway.

This is one of the reasons homeopathy remains so interesting after all these years. We aren't simply looking at symptoms. We're looking at patterns. The things people say. The stories they tell. The experiences that repeat.

Sometimes a passing comment about comparison can tell us far more than the comparison itself ever could.

Martine
