Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a frequently diagnosed condition among Australian children. Often labelled as a ‘behavioural disorder’ alongside Autism, dyslexia, and learning difficulties. The truth is, there is so much more to these expressions than meets the eye. Various factors, including IBS, bowel dysfunction, vaccinations, pesticides, and genetics, are believed to contribute to ADHD. My perspective incorporates these hypotheses and recognises that each child's experience is unique... To me they are far from ‘dis-orders’.
Some children are born with ‘their notches turned up’... hyperactive from the minute they enter the world. Others can be identified with becoming more hyperactive after a particular fever, illness or vaccine. What is of more relevance to me is how different each child is. There may be some common threads throughout ADHD children however, as we are all different, they still present their set of symptoms in a unique way.
Some children can be slow in learning, be very quiet and make mistakes in speaking or writing. They may also suffer violent temper tantrums where they kick, bite and stamp their feet in anger. Other children might eat bugs and dirt, be constantly on the go, climbing, running, jumping. They may be mischievous, feign sickness to get attention, fidget all the time.
These are two different set of symptoms for the same named behavioural disorder.
ADHD children usually have a lot of eating difficulties, you may find it hard to get them to eat anything but what they want, some can be lazy in eating, others can crave sugary foods. A lot of the time there are allergies, especially to dairy products.
Sensory and fixed desires can be also a big part of the expression.
My support plan tends to involve both homeopathic and nutritional support.
Homeopathy continues to allow all the thriving aspects of the child to expand, grow and be expressed whilst aiming to reduce symptom intensity, enabling children to socialise, learn, and interact effectively. Reduce anxiety and overwhelm, rebalance food, noise and touch sensitivities and anything else that becomes a tic or habit. Sleep is usually naturally improved once we get going on a good constitutional. Again, it is a narrowing of symptoms by analysing the individual traits of the child.
Nutritional support aims to balance out the nutritional elements and support detoxification and detoxification pathways, digestion and food choices as well as supporting the adrenals. Many of these expressions will come back with zinc insufficiency (so high copper overload) and a toxic load picture which may look like actual heavy metals or could be overgrowths in bacterial, viral, yeast or parasitic pictures. The deficiency in zinc will be where the sensory and capricious food pictures are born and the toxic load will be the imbalances in where and how these expressions are creating dis-harmony.
It is important to remember that results can range in time, some cases unfold immediately, others need a few remedies to help unlock the constitution a little before a deep acting remedy can get in there ‘turn the notches down’. Each practitioner will work differently, I have often described my approach as ‘removing the cloaks’ of density to reveal the true light.
Everyone needs to feel safe and within their rights to be and feel themselves. We are all unique and each offers our own gifts and talents as part of our creation and purpose. When we look at a set of symptoms through the eyes of a blanket word, we diminish all the amazing light that these gifts carry with them too.
When working together, you may receive an acute to assist along the way.

Some ideas for you before we begin working together
Observe Individual Symptoms: Pay close attention to your child’s unique symptoms and behaviours. This can help identify the most effective homeopathic remedy.
Holistic Approach: Incorporate a balanced diet, mindful of potential allergies. Avoid excessive sugar and dairy, and focus on whole, natural foods.
Consult a Professional: Homeopaths ask detailed questions to tailor remedies to each child. Consult a professional for personalised treatment plans and continuous support.
